Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function. Electrodes are placed on different quadrants on the scalp to listen in on brainwave activity. The brain learns to function more efficiently while watching images on a screen. The signal is processed through the computer. It is a gradual learning process for your brain while it regulates.
Neurofeedback is also called EEG Biofeedback as it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or EEG.
Neurofeedback does not hurt. It can be used on elementary school age children if they can communicate clearly when the Neurofeedback clinician is checking in with them during the session.
It is optimal to receive brain training at least 2 - 3 times a week consistently over a 20-session period. These sessions can even take place in one day with an hour in-between each session. For most issues, 20-sessions will improve the symptoms and you will not need any more than that, but some issues require additional sessions. If trauma is indicated, Alpha-Theta protocol is used as well.
Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dysregulation. BrainPaint® utilizes Infra-low frequency training HD.
Neurofeedback helps with symptoms from:
Depression and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at any point in our lives. Through adjunct therapies, such as neurofeedback, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, hopelessness, hyperarousal, sleep disturbances and difficulty concentrating are a few symptoms and emotional responses that can linger post traumatic events. Utilizing the Alpha-Theta protocol, we can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Concentration, focus and emotional control are key to achieving optimal performance in all fields. Athletes and business executives are taking advantage of neurofeedback technologies to learn how to utilize the full potential of their minds to reach their peak.
The first session is the intake session with assessment questions to create your individualized protocol, which typically runs a session and a half. The one-hour sessions to follow, include the brain training session and a handful of follow-up questions to individualize the protocol as progress is made.
Sensors are clipped onto your ear and the other sensors are placed on your head where the protocol indicates. The placement of these sensors could be changed up to three times during the session. The sensors pick up on the activity coming from your brainwaves. If you are doing an eyes-open training, you click on the mouse when you see blue on the screen. If you are doing an eyes-closed training, you are listening to the BrainPaint® program.
NO! The sensors are picking up on the activity coming from your brain. Nothing is going into your brain. The activity from your brainwaves make fractal images on the BrainPaint® program.
Both, depending on which brain training protocol we are using. Alpha-Theta is always done with eyes closed, so you are solely listening to the training. Eyes open brain training is both visual and auditory.
There is a minimum commitment of twice a week for 20-sessions of neurofeedback as the first and often last set of sessions people need. Neurofeedback can be done multiple times a day with an hour in-between each session. People can choose to do multiple sessions in a week or do it every other hour for intensives. It's up to the individual.
For the efficacy of the training and safety of the practitioner, please do not come in for brain training under the influence. The brain training will not work if you are taking benzodiazepines, so please disclose that before you start neurofeedback.
